Workers compensation can be a complicated field both for employees who are injured in the course of work and for companies trying to ensure workplace safety. Maine Employer’s Mutual Insurance Company (MEMIC) helps businesses and employees navigate these issues by offering workers’ compensation insurance. MEMIC ensures injured workers receive the care they need to return to work, while helping companies maintain safe work environments. Unlike other insurance providers, MEMIC specializes in workers’ comp, offering top-tier attention to improving workers’ lives across the United States.

Struggles and Pains

Over 30 years since its inception in Portland, Maine, MEMIC has grown to 510 employees, with 400 working in five offices along the U.S. East Coast and an additional 100 working remotely. This expansion introduced challenges for MEMIC’s HR and IT teams, particularly with onboarding employees and managing UKGPro, Active Directory (AD), and Entra ID profiles. Additionally, MEMIC faced difficulties implementing secure access control, leaving security risks when employees had access to systems beyond their role or continued access after termination. MEMIC required a solution to automate identity and access management (IAM) to alleviate the burden on its Sysadmins.
