How To Use Temporary Access Passes in Hire2Retire for Onboarding Automation

Hire2Retire can now generate a Temporary Access Pass (TAP) upon new account creation in Entra ID and include it in onboarding email communication(s) as part of the Phase 8.2 release.

That’s why Hire2Retire, RoboMQ’s leading employee onboarding software, now automatically generates Temporary Access Passes (TAP) that allow IT teams to securely access new employee accounts in Entra ID (Azure AD). Here is how to use this new feature from Hire2Retire’s Phase 8.2 release to achieve secure onboarding automation.

What is a Temporary Access Pass?

Temporary Access Passes are single or multi-use passwords that can sign into Entra ID accounts only during a specified time frame. When you enable Temporary Access Passes in Office 365, your Hire2Retire workflow can automatically generate them whenever an onboarding event is processed. Entra or Azure Temporary Access Passes can also be included in Hire2Retire’s automated email communications, securely sending them to IT teams without any manual action needed.

How to Use Temporary Access Passes for Secure Onboarding

This is a common use case for Temporary Access Passes: A new hire event is processed by Hire2Retire, which automatically creates an Entra account for the employee with a unique password. At the same time, Hire2Retire generates a single-use Temporary Access Pass and automatically emails it to the IT department. IT can then use the Temporary Access Pass to sign in to the Entra ID account and set up passwordless authentication. Once the IT team is done, they log out of the account and the Temporary Access Pass expires after 24 hours. Now the new hire has their account set up with SSO and MFA before they even start working.
